I took Andrew Finnie's advice and added a texture layer in Photoshop and put back some of the texture I had gotten rid of previously. My family had said it looked too much like sand. Even if it does I like the texture better I think. Maybe I'll quit messing with it now, maybe not. Thanks for visiting and thanks for the advice Andrew. I appreciate your comments and fresh view. I also appreciate the comments and visits from all the other talented artists who comment on my work.
Nice work. I think it looks more solid now, rather than eathereal, as it did in the previous. I think things like mud and cotton wool and amorphous substances are the hardest things to represent. There are so many things that mud looks like if you screw up!
ReplyDeleteSo you did a grande job getting the message across,
cheers
PS I didn't mean that 'you' screwed up! I meant that if 'one' screws up! IE mud can look like dirty baby nappies, tar, even chocolate, if 'one' misses the mark by a millimtere. Mind you, there's something appealing about wading through an acre of milky chocolate....
ReplyDeleteWow brilliant! The mud effect looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI love it more this way as well. It looks awesome. You're very talented! Great work.
ReplyDeleteKaren! I apologize, I don't know how I missed your post from Wed - but went to look back to compare, I really liked that one, but this one definintely has that richer, muddier look. Very realistic! I love how the girls look like they're having so much fun, makes me want to jump right in. Thanks for posting your work in progress, it's always fascinting to see the evolution of a piece - great job!
ReplyDeleteps - I had trouble the other day too with folks not being able to leave comments, it's happened before, so it must be an intermittent google thing - ah, technology...
Thank you and no worries Andrew, I really was trying hard to avoid the look of them playing in a big pile of poop. Now playing in a big pile of gooey chocholate, that idea has possiblitlies, very Willie Wonka-ish fun.
ReplyDeletei like the angle on this very much! nicely done!
ReplyDeleteWow Karen, you nailed it! Nice mud! You done good with the texture! :o)
ReplyDeleteHi Karen, thanks for your visit today - just wanted to make a quick comment on how it's nice to hear that I'm not the only one who has some disappointment with the scanner. I'm also working on 'adrift' I know exactly what you mean about sifting through all the ideas, my only consolation is that I don't have any creative blocks - just not enough time!
ReplyDeleteOh this came out so so fabulous!!! I love the perspective on this . Outrageous this is! Great work. I love it. Thanks so much for sharing your experience with me on the blog. Stephanie and Nick are really going to need that kind of wisdom. They have been apart for a long while and it's going to be like getting to know each others all over again. They will need lots of support and lots of time without the family bothering them with get togethers and all. My family is all about that. We love to gather everyone together and spend time, but these two need time away from us while they get to know each others again. Thanks so much for wisdom. It's such a get comfort and encouragement. Thanks again.
ReplyDeletethe perspective really does the picture - makes you want to jump right in there, too! :D Brave decision painting mud - I wimped out on my 'muddy' and did just a little teeny blob...;)
