Here are two of the illustrations I did for They Draw and Cook, the second one is for the Christmas Contest. I did the first one but it turned out to be not very Christmas-y. I guess I wasn't in the Christmas mode yet. The second one, I did in about three or four hours. They were fun, but I will now savor the fact that they are done! Thanks for stopping by and for taking the time to comment!!! It's beginning to feel a little like Christmas season now. : )
Hey Karen! Yay! I’m the first commenter! I love these! Your grasshopper characters are so great! You are so clever> What a perfect recipe to showcase your character design and your artwork! I really love the Christmas recipe as well! That polar bear ROCKS! Your little holiday treats are a perfect accent. I see you even brought along your grasshopper goodies! That background is like a winter wonderland :o) Such a perfect layout too, allowing for the binding. You really struck gold... or should I say silver and gold with these contributions for TDAC and IF!
ReplyDeleteawwww, thanks Jack you are very kind
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking I hadn't visited you in a while (HOW did that happen???) and what do I see but lots of fabulous new stuff! Hooray for you-- it is wonderful, as usual, and Hooray for ME-- I get two new holiday recipes!! Its WIN/WIN! And those sneaky little squirrels! (Reminds me of when my son left a soda in the car with the dog-- woo-eee, what a mess!)
ReplyDeleteGreat illustration.I love the little crickets.
ReplyDeleteDeb
I found your blog from seeing your polar bear on They Draw and Cook. I love him! And then looking at the art on your website, so many gave me a warm smile and made me think of my own son.
ReplyDeleteI was blown away by the fact that you do most of your drawing/painting now digitally! Awesome! Is Corel Paint intuitive to learn? (I love to draw and am just picking up the oil crayons and watercolors again.)
thanks Krista, I've been missing your visits!
ReplyDeleteThank you Debbie and Momsicle, I didn't even know it was on there yet :) I think it's an easy program, you just have to play with it for a while till you get a feel for what works for you.
They are both so cute and sound so yummy!
ReplyDeleteOooh oooh OOOOOH! So faboooooo! The French macaroons are tres jolie! Cute little grasshopper guys. And the polar bear sure smells something yummy! So nice of the green friends to share some macaroons with him. And of course, plated so beautifully on a doily! These look GREAT! In four hours?!! Awww, now you're just showing off. :)
ReplyDeleteoh no ;0 !!! not showing off Bella, not meaning to anyway. I just reused some elements, made some new ones and put it together, because I messed up and didn't make the first one holiday-ishy enough and I liked how it turned out so rather than re-doing the grasshoppers I just started over at the last minute. I'm ridiculous, I know. I actually just realized that the one I sent to TDAC was missing a layer... ah well, see what happens when you rush, or would that be when I rush?
ReplyDeletefor some reason the first image won't get bigger when you click it.... Hmmm, weird!
ReplyDeleteKaren dearie, I hv an award 4 u.. coz you're one of my favs :).. Come by & collect d award when you've the chance..

ReplyDeleteI missed these! These are fantastic. Wow, these are so festive. You are a digital art whiz! The polar bear especially reminds me of cold winter nights but sitting warm and snug wrapped in a blanket. So comforting!
ReplyDeletewow, thank you Ces, you are so sweet. I wish I could figure out why the grasshopper one won't get bigger, no one can see the recipe. Maybe I just need to delete it and re-upload it.
ReplyDeletethese are fabulous! Nice style and composition!

ReplyDeleteI like them both, but especially the bottom one. I also am fascinated with your daughter's artwork. She is very gifted. I used to teach art to teens, and seeing her art makes me miss teaching. It is very honest, and also insightful about Aspberger's. Thanks you for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteThank you Mr.Spoqui(not sure which one of you this is from, Ogait maybe?) and Kathleen. I found teaching art very rewarding, I miss it too. I would imagine that you were a great art teacher.
