Sorry I've been neglecting my blog. This is a little of what I have been up to for the past few weeks. My daughter and I did a tie dye project for charity. 10% went to Japan through the company we purchased the blanks from, and 10% will go to the Center for the Visually Impaired and for LCA research. It was so much fun that we ordered more shirts. We spent half our time figuring out how to do it so I am sure this batch will go much more quickly. So now I've got two boxes of shirts waiting to be tied and dyed. I also found a product to remove the dye from my hands because somehow, even with gloves I kept getting dye on my skin. I do the same thing when I do a lot of ink work, perpetually stained fingers ;)
What beautiful T shirts, and such beautiful gestures to benefit those in need!
ReplyDeleteThe stained fingers only serve as subtle reminders of the wonderful work you've done! :o)
Wow! These are the most beautiful tie-dyed shirts I have ever seen! Bravo to you!
ReplyDeleteHey Karen! Before I finished reading your post, I had already planned on asking you...”So what color are your hands now?” Glad you found something to get the dye off. I remember having orange hands for weeks! You really have made some wonderful designs and colors! Wow.... let me say it again WOW! That last one is the best tie-Die shirt I’ve ever seen! God bless you for your compassionate heart and giving of your time and talent for such worthy causes Karen.
ReplyDeleteoh, thanks, I'm glad you like them, these are just a few of my favorites, there are a bunch of cool looking ones. It's fun to un-tie them and see how they turned out. Jack, my hands were purple, it seems to "stick" the best to my skin ;) I've got an entire load of blanks in the wash to do this week.
ReplyDeleteFANTASTIC FANTASTIC FANTASTIC! I'm so glad to hear that these were done for great causes AND for fun. They are all wonderful, but I really love the top one with all those great blooms. Keep on tying and dying!
ReplyDeleteAha Karen, caught diversifying eh?: These are so cool, they bring back many memories,- so when do you start batiking? Now you've started I'm sure you will be addicted!
ReplyDeleteMy favourites are the top two. Now where do I leave my afro wig and my flares? :)

ReplyDeleteThese are great. My favorite is the one on the bottom!!!
ReplyDeleteSo you are selling these online? I did not know that. Please let me know if you are because I think my daughter would like one.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter just saw the shirts and she likes the bottom one in small size. :)
ReplyDeleteWe're just selling them everywhere we can. I'll send you pics of the small ones we have before my daughter takes a batch to a boutique on Monday that wants to sell some. I actually still have the bottom one, I saved it because it was one of my favorites. It's a small, but it's a forever 21 shirt and it fits like an extra small.
ReplyDeleteoh the fro's nothin!
ReplyDeleteit's the handlebar moustache which gets all complements :)
Woooohoooooo! Glad to hear the tie-dye business is still going strong! You are probably technicolor all the way up to your elbows by now. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd ugh, sorry to hear about your computer woes! When they're bad, they are very very VERY bad.
xoxo
Hope you're doing well Karen! Have a wonderful weekend coming up! Thanks for always being such a positive light here in the blogs.
ReplyDeleteNoooooooooo Karen!!! That is not right. In the end it all goes to one pot - to help the Japanese people affected by the disaster. What matters is that we are doing something rather than just wishing. It is something you should feel glad about. You rock!!! Maybe next time, we all get together to do something. More is better. Have a great Sunday. I am on call. Ugh, still in bed in my pajamas and already answering problem calls.
ReplyDeleteAnd I just remembered, I need to send you my address! I need to look for your email. I am so bad about answering emails. Okay. TSUP!
Oh, don't worry Ces, I was just kidding with you. We've been enjoying our little project. I'm just proud you and Bella did so well with yours. :)

ReplyDeleteOh wow, Karen! You and your daughter make such an amazing team! I have tried making these in college and I know you don't get results like yours unless you have oodles of patience.
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful thing you're doing here. Yes, I agree with Ces... You ROCK!! oxx
Wow! Karen! Thank you very much. Oh goodness! I will be sure to check them individually. I can't go shopping for the next two days, though. Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. Thank you for the link.
ReplyDeleteYes, oh yes, you ROCK ROCK ROCK! I miss your art, but it's all for a good cause. Have a Happy Easter! xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteYeah, my poor blog, I've got to find time to put up some art :) My daughter is getting a divorce and I am helping her to start a business right now. It's taking up a lot of time. She is trying to turn the t-shirt thing into an ongoing business and wants to continue donating to the charities for the blind. The only drawing I've been doing for the past few days are drawings for patterns. I'll be back soon though. :)
