Ms. Marple was a wonderful ice skating teacher. She even made a safety net to keep her pupils safe. Don't worry, she's a grandmother a thousand times over and became a vegetarian weeks ago, which in a spiders life, is like years ;) I started this for last weeks prompt, Freeze, but I got sidetracked.
Oh! So beautiful, Karen! I love the perspective and all of the details. Your scene is right out of a picture book...I can see this as a story! Keep up the excellent work, my friend!
ReplyDeleteWow, you are fast Shirley, I added a blow-up of the bugs after your visit. Thanks so much, you are such a sweetheart. I really appreciate your visits, your comments and most of all your friendship. (((HUGS!!!)))
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOODNESS!!! You are knocking me away with this illustration. So beautiful, so refined, so gentle. Yes, It feels so gentle and tender. That is how I felt. The colors maybe but the style too. It reminds me of porcelain paintings. So beautiful! How are you? Hope you are having a swell weekend. Tsup!
ReplyDeleteYou are soooooooo sweet Ces. Thank you so much. I thought maybe I had made a big mistake because my husband asked me if I had pent up anger. Putting a spider hanging or a sled full of baby bugs like that. LOL
DeleteI'm good! I hope that you are too and that your computer issues are resolved. Have a wonderful and restful weekend yourself.
TSUP!!!
Oh the spider! geesh. I draw spiders all the time. Unless they are poisonous, I am not bothered. Spiders are actually cool creatures, the non-poisonoius ones. When I was a kid, I collected spiders and we used them in spider derby. We had matches to see whose spider could wrap up the other. We kept them hidden in matchboxes which we compartmentalized with banana leaves. The other evening, I reminisced with my elementary school classmate and we found out we played with spiders. We kept it secret because "good" kids did not engage in such sport.
DeleteHa, sounds like a very creative past time. I'm sure all the good kids played with spiders. They just didn't let anyone know that they played with spiders ;)
DeleteHow come I am not getting feeds from your blog anymore? Hmn I am still following and I had to follow again. I saw the link on Illustrious Critters. My reader has been screwed up lately. It's not you. It's my settings. Tsup!
ReplyDeleteSorry I lied, I just saw the link before it posted on my reader. I still get feeds. Tsup! :)
ReplyDeleteNah, that's not a lie, just a technology hiccup. ;)
DeleteAh, isn't miss marple a sweet darling? (^_^)
ReplyDeleteThese are awesome, Karen! You did such a great job and with a wonderful story too! OXX
Oh, thank you Amalia :) Your blog is looking great! You are such an active poster. I should take lessons from you!
ReplyDeleteHi, Karen,
ReplyDeleteThe light of the little fireflies remind me those movies where everything is magical and little fairy lights cross the dark!!!!
Certainly this is a magical illustration!!!
Karen, I wish you a family and magical weekend :)
congratulations!
(frozen lake inside a leaf is more poetic image that I've seen):))))))))))))))))
Thanks so much Roberto. I thought it was a cute idea to freeze the dew for skating. I have a thing for fireflies. We use to catch them when we were kids, hold them in a glass jar for hours and then let them go. I hope that your weekend is grand! Thanks for stopping by :)
DeleteOh my goodness, all those tiny bugs are too adorable! But I am skeptical of the good intentions of this "grandmother" spider. Eek! But the beautiful, delicate touches of the spider silk and the ice are terrific. Love the fireflies!
ReplyDeleteThanks Cindy. It was a fun piece. Hopefully she can maintain the vegetarian lifestyle ;)
DeleteHi Karen. I hope you are having a fine Sunday. I am working from home, supporting a project implementation. I do not like snakes either, both real and imaginary. :) Tsup!
ReplyDeleteLove it! I especially like Mrs. Marples knitting in her web. Nice balance between the colors and graphic approach to the leaves and web.
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda :D I appreciate the kind comment.
DeleteMy fav is the spider. Colors, drawing, and swirl. She makes the the whole picture!
ReplyDelete.
Thanks Richard, I just had a strange desire to draw a spider ;) She was really fun to do.

ReplyDeleteAngry Bird, Beatles, and pigs! do you think is a good combination?
Ha Ha, good weekend, enjoy your family!
I think it is a great combination. I love that you put your custom background up. It's fabulous and fun :)
DeleteGirly you are on a ROLL!!! How beautifully illustrated. I love it. The colors are divine. Excellent work my friend. Thanks so much for stopping by. I am putting your wonderful work up in my studio this weekend. Looks like we are going to have to stay put for a little bit.
ReplyDeleteHugs and much love.
Thank you Ms. Vee! I'm so glad that you like the prints; I sure do love mine. I can't wait to hang a montage of my lovely friends artwork. Oh, I'm sorry your moving plans were put off but maybe there is something better out there just waiting for the right time to pop into your talented hands ;)
DeleteSending lots of love your way>
Hello Karen,
ReplyDeleteSorry I am still working my b7m off!! Can you believe it? Gah
Hey, hey how beautiful is this piece? You know it's such a cool compoistion but the thing I really reelly reallllly like is that every little creature is living it's own life, everything has a reason to be, and the elemsnts in the picture all belong (like houses in France that are made from the local soil) Simply put, everything is organically related and helps us suspend our disbelief. I'm glad she is a vegetarian. I was one once for a few hours then I gave up... :) cheers from 'ere
Well, I'm so glad to see you popping by. Sorry, yet happy for you that you are working so hard. Thanks so much for the input on the illustration, it is valued, as always. I'm happy to know that it is working. I really miss having you around, so I'll be glad when you get a little more free time ;)
DeleteHey there Precious Lady,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your sweet words about the book. It got some nice reviews from Kirkus and they don't like to give good reviews so bless the Lord for that. Sending you a massive hugs today. Have a wonderful weekend.
Love you,
me
Big SMooches coming your way ;) XOXOXO
DeleteNormally I'm an arachnophobe but I'll make an exception for Ms. Marple. This is an amazingly warm illustration for such an icy scene! :-)
ReplyDeleteawwww, thanks, yeah, I'm not a real fan of "living" spiders but I like to paint creatures that tend to bite ;)
