This is what I have been working on for the past few days. It's for my first post on Watercolor Wednesdays and I was late posting it. I've been doing a lot of cooking this week so not as much painting going on. I'm making multiple batches of truffles and other goodies to put in a care package to send to my daughter who is in college. Today I am making Tiramisu truffles, grasshopper truffles and bitter sweet balsamic vinegar truffles. I think I will also make her some Chai tea shortbread, it's another of her favorites. I'm missing her with Easter coming up and she won't be able to be here. Thanks for visiting and taking the time to leave comments. I appreciate it.
Yummy! You sound like a gourmet candy shop! This is so wonderful-- I love the perspective! She looks like she's offering the flowers to a pet or a small child, or maybe Mama is lying on the grass looking up at the sky, enjoying Spring!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful way to usher in spring! Glad you got this over here Karen. I too love the perspective you used on this and the lovely colors, I always love how you render hair too!
ReplyDeleteHappy Spring!
Forgot to mention how yummy all your treats sound - can you send the recipes, thanks1
ReplyDeletethanks Susan and Krista, yes you can have the recipes they are easy, they just take a lot of time. I usually only make them at Christmas, but, I miss my baby girl. Now Cyan wants Caramel truffles too. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is great! :)
ReplyDeleteagain i am amazed!!! all this amazing beauty and you make candy? will you adopt me? :)
ReplyDeleteValGal, sure I'll adopt you, but you must know my house is messy, it's at the bottom of my to do list :) thanks for the kind comments!
ReplyDeleteit IS very spring-like, Karen — I love where you placed the camera (so to speak), and the faraway, dreamy expression in the girl's eyes. Awesome!
ReplyDeleteYour art is great. Wonderful coloring.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your support, encouragement and confidence in me Karen. I don't know where I'd be without my wonderful bloggie friends! I am so happy you had a good day yesterday and you're always in my prayers too, I really hope things have turned the better corner, please keep me posted. Happy Easter and Happy Spring!
ReplyDeleteBalsamic truffles sounds wonderful. Love your work. I'm sorry your daughter couldn't join you for easter. She'll love all the goodies

ReplyDeletethis is a delightful painting and I love the perspective, its so very clever.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have been super creative in the kitchen too.
a great illustration to welcome spring!
ReplyDeleteLet me tell you something lady, you could sure teach this little sistah a thing or two about painting. I just love the perspective again on this illustration. You got everything right! You nailed it! It's wonderful.
ReplyDeleteYa'll are all so sweet, thank you! Vanessa, you made my day!
ReplyDeleteWonderful illustration Karen. I always enjoy your compositions - you take risks and that's awesome. Something I must keep pushing myself to do and remember to try. She is a lovely girl..a wonderful way to greet Spring! I hear how much you must miss your daughter - I can't imagine when my little ones get to that stage. I will have to move to be closer to them. I know, it's just a thought and I know they must spread their wings. I hope she enjoyed all of those truffles and shortbread..wow, you are amazing to create those gourmet treats! What a lucky daughter. Thank you for popping by and taking time to read the "feature" - what a treat it was for me to be asked..and thank you for visiting Sarah - her work is quite sweet! Good to check in Karen. Have a wonderful week ahead and congrats on Watercolor Wednesdays! : )
ReplyDeleteHappy SPRING Karen! I hope and pray that you had a blessed Easter. I know it must have been a bit disappointing without your daughter, but I'm sure that along with your Easter care package, you sent your heart. Love this illustration...It is cold here today but spring will return on Saturday (I hope) God bless
ReplyDeleteHappy Spring? I Like that! But it
ReplyDeletes autumn in oz :( This painting is so soft and has a wonderful glow about the hat from the sky. The different textures just add that subtle interest, don't they, the flat against the round. I like it :)
sorry not to post for a while been away and stuff (technical term for unable to post!)
You know, I was all agog over your painting and ready to comment, and then I read all the goodies you are baking and all I could think about was chocolate chocolate chocolate!!! Recipes, woman, recipes, please!
ReplyDeleteExcellent perspective here. There's something very cinemagraphic about this, and I want to know who she's looking at.... a person? a pet? a field critter? This is fantastic!
thanks Bella, want me to email you the recipes? I don't mind at all.
