Well, I finally got to work a little today, well tonight anyway. Yay! I feel so much better now and I am posting this because I am more likely to get back to it and get it done if I do! I am working on this for Illustration Friday this week. The prompt this week is old fashioned and I'm thinking it's an old fashioned thing to want to run off and join the circus. Thanks for stopping by and baring with me while I have been preoccupied with other things. Your visits and comments mean so much to me!
YAYYYYYYY! WAHOOOOOO! You found a bit of time for art!!!! This is fantastic, Karen. Such wonderful shine to his hat and coat. Running off to join the circus is a fun idea! Unless you're joining the Finnie circus.....
ReplyDeleteHi, Andrew! ;)
thank you Bella, yes, I have to agree, Andrew's circus might be a bit scary to say the least. No telling what kind of creatures you might find behind the scenes ;)
ReplyDeleteSweet! I love the cat and his tutu! I'm fascinated by your painting-- I have been trying to learn digital painting for IF, but as I only give myself an hour or two on a Friday for it, I am still pretty lousy at it. I've been doing so much Photoshop manipulation lately, however, it felt good to actually paint with paints yesterday!
ReplyDeletevery nice! Clever and...yes, i remember wanting to be a clown in the circus when i was a little girl...
ReplyDeleteAwww, thanks Krista and Heather. Krista, it's just another medium and takes practice like anything else. Give it a little more time and I am sure you will be an expert in no time. But yes, sometimes it's just fun to get your hands dirty again ;)
ReplyDeleteoh and I did not mean to say that I am an expert by any means, I am learning new things about digital painting all the time.
ReplyDeleteHehehe! So you are out of the starting gates and galloping I see. Those lines are so clean and sure and just sinuous! The boys furthest cheek line is superb - that's such a hard part of the face to get right. The sheen on the clothes, the wrinkles - it's going to be a good piece!
ReplyDeletewelcome back :)
You will have to get your husband to post some of his work too!
PS I'm sorry google gargled that comments of yours! That's reeeeely annoying when it happens uuuuuuuuugh!
Oh, thanks Andrew, he's only a critic/fan of art, he says he knows what he likes when he sees it, but he only draws stick figures and plays around with Zara, it's a vector program. I'll post my daughters new piece when she is done with it though.
ReplyDeleteWonderful composition here. I look forward to seeing the final version. It's interesting to see these two steps. It so NOT the way I would go about working :-). First off, I rarely have the patience to make such a beautiful sketch/line drawing (and that's something I need to work on), and then when I start doing color, I do so much more of an all-over kind of thing (sloppy might be a good word). There's nothing sloppy about this. It's equisitly (ack, that's no spelled right) beautiful!
ReplyDeletethank you Coreopsis, you are very sweet
ReplyDeleteSuper duper, Karen!!! This is a fantastic piece..the composition is what got me right away. And your characters are charming! I love the details you always add and that the personality of your work comes right through. Keep it up! I'm so happy to see your work and hear that you've had a bit of time for yourself..yayayyyyyy!!!
ReplyDeleteOoooooh, wonderful face, I love the hair, and I am tickled by the feather on the end of his whip!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving this slow reveal. The anticipation and excitement!
Very nice! Love seeing the process :)
