Something new

My friend Clau had a birthday in August and I did this picture of her daughter for her.  I am working on one of her son too.  I haven't been able to get anything done since last week, so I thought I'd post this. It's just been busy. My husband was home for the holiday weekend. The 4th was my mother-in-laws birthday so we cooked her a big birthday dinner, the kind that takes all day to cook. Then today my husband left town to go on a last minute business trip, I had to take my grandson to the Center for the Visually Impaired for class, which is in Atlanta and it was my son's first day of high school! We home school,  so we didn't get finished today until 5:00pm.  It all made for a really long day, after a long busy weekend. Now, I am looking forward to a little slower pace and a little time to paint : )

  2. When I say stop its like we say to a guy who just got the perfect wave. It means he can go in now because he is making the rest of us look bad!!

  3. Oh. My. God.

Karen? Is this for real?? It's beauuuttifuull....!!! Makes me think of a child living during the 1800s. She could very well be sitting in a parlour, drinking tea and biscuits with a terrier by her feet.

    Really, really good. (^_^) oxx

  19. Astounding! Heavens! You know, I landed here and the first thing I did was gasp at the beauty of this perfect little face. She is incredible, Karen. The soft shadings on her face and that sweet little mouth. All those ruffles! Wow, wow, wow! You've got all the highlights and curves just so. She looks wonderfully Victorian. And I really LOVE the close up perspective. What an intimate portrait! Your friend is truly, truly lucky! Truuuuuuuuuuuuly.

And your Cinderella piece is fantastic! Whaddaya mean you don't like the carriage? I think it's wonderful, are you nuts? Hahahaha! The face on the clock has a beautiful texture as well.

You are one busy, busy, busy lady. Yet you still manage to create such wonders. I salute you! And I'm glad to hear your back is better, too.

    Take care!

  25. This is absolutely lovely-- there's something about the face that makes me feel she's just taken a breath-- & the intensity of the gaze, ah!

  26. Well, I would say this is a soft picture (weird adjective to an illustration, no?)
In addition, I would add the word ethereal.
    Congratulations.
