Illustration Friday's topic this week is skinny. My oldest daughter did ballet for ten years. I will always remember the day she came home and told me that Ms. Diane said she was fat, along with several other descriptive words. She was and still is very thin. I was so angry. She was in 6th grade at the time and would hardly eat for a week afterwards. I only let her keep going because she loved it so and this woman was the director not her teacher. I had computer problems so I am a little behind getting this posted. Thanks for looking and as always, comments are welcome!

  1. Geez! No wonder we have so many issues with body size. I don't blame you for being angry. How awful! Beautiful artwork though.

  2. a beautiful illustration about a troubling topic...I'd like to see more focus in our society on HEALTHY weight versus a superficial obsession with some contrived ideal. Thanks for addressing the issue!

  3. Thank you for your post and lovely illustration...I couldn't have stated it better than Susan above. Raising little girls in this day and age to be self confident throughout all of these comments and external stimuli is a challenge, definitely.

Thank you for taking the time to comment! You are the best!!!
