Sooooo last minute!

I'm soooooo last minute! I have been meaning to do an illustration for the website They Draw and Cook since they first started it. It's such a great site with recipes from artists all over the world. Well, I had done this overly complicated, way too realistic layout and I just didn't like it, so I started from scratch. Thank goodness I found out Friday night that the deadline was today!  I didn't even have time to start on it until yesterday afternoon, so I worked feverishly to complete it on time. I saw that Linda Silvestri on her Sketched Out blog had finished hers today too so, I don't feel too, too bad.  I don't know Linda so I hope she doesn't mind my mention of her.  I just love her work. It's always so much fun and her recipe looks great.

While I am confessing to my last minute, procrastinating nature let me give a shout out to Ces and to Marion. They have both given me awards and poor Ces, I have been so busy that I haven't even posted about it and it's been a while. Amalia did the sweetest acceptance for it and I wish I had time to do something equally as sweet and clever, but alas, I only have time to post about them both for now. I will post them in my side bar, but I will have to get back to the passing it along part later ladies.  So,  thank you Ces and Marion you are both too sweet and I appreciate the awards and kind words.

Thanks for stopping by and for your kind comments. You all are great!

  1. Oh it's good to be a procratinator, it's just hard to spell it. Why do now what you can do tommorrow? Eh --- just like me!

Well this piece is wonderful, you have the flow happening, nnot a tiwtter out of place - and just the right imagery. Your work is getting better and better - you can't tell it was last thing you know - don't tell anyone!

    see you

  2. Fabulous, Karen! I remember your older recipe idea and loved it too. But you need not apologize or worry of procrastination..I believe there is a reason why we do this and you know what? Life's too short to worry..you made the deadline and it looks fantastic. A great contribution to They Draw and Cook. It will be awesome to see how the book turns out. : )

Congratulations on your awards too..you so deserve them!! Have a great week ahead!

  3. Mmmmmmmm. Oh wow, I'm getting my keyboard all yucky with drool. This sounds YUMMY and looks DIVINE! So very fluffy and wonderful. I DO remember the bits you were rendering for the original piece. So much work into those ingredients. I do hope you can turn them into a future project.

And I did not know that about egg whites! Great hint. Thanks!

  5. Hey Karen! I can picture you working "feverishly" :o) You are so sweet. Love your sentiments to Ces and Marion. I agree with Bella and Shirley. The last "they draw and cook" piece you were working on had a lot of great elements in it. I hope you didn't totally scrap it. I love Linda's work as well and I also love your recipe! Sounds delicious and the illustration is just as yummy! Sometimes we are our own worst critic .. but people see the amazing work... not what we see. Give yourself a pat on the back... Great work!!

  6. Thanks everyone, you all are wonderful! I did save the other piece. I may go back to it and I kept all the elements separate to use in my husbands cookbook project so they won't go to waste! My grandson was asking for his Gigi's angel food cake for breakfast this morning, it is definitely a favorite around here.

  8. Huh?! Karen please do not worry. You have already thanked me many times over. Awards and gifts are supposed to be fun, not meant to stress you. SO please, no worries.

  10. Ugh. I'm late, I'm late!! Sorry, I parked my horse outside the saloon and some wise guy blocked the way with his wagon!!

But now that I'm here.... Oh, no!!!! Another mouth watering piece, Karen??! Now, I obviously never learn, to come here with an empty stomach. Seriously, you should definitely try your hands on illustrating a kiddie cook book! That would be fantastic! :)

    Hugs, hugs! oxx

  12. thanks everyone! Amalia, I don't care if you are late, I'm just happy you stopped by. Oh, Ces, we get to fly? Yeah, I've always wanted to be able to fly. Funny too since I'm kind of afraid of heights. One time I painted a mural on two stories of scaffolding and was terrified every time I had to climb up or down.
