What's on my desk...

So, I'm dusting the cobwebs off my poor lonely blog and posting a peek at what I'm currently working on.  I hope everyone is well. Sorry I've been so neglectful of my blog.  Just busy, busy, busy.  So, let me know what you think of my little guy.  He's a character for a book I'm currently working on.  Just some sketches for now, but I'll put some more polished images up soon.

  1. ahh well I took one look at him and smiled - he's great. He's cute but individual, and obviously flexible - as you have drawn him in so many different situations and still maintained his personality and character.

I think he is a wonderful character to work with! The eyes and the mouth are so lovable eh?

  2. Oh thanks Andrew. Its much harder for me to draw like this than it is to do realism, so I have been playing around with him for weeks. It's a little hard to view on the IPad. I may need to post a larger image so that it is easier to view. This is just the canvas I was sketching on and I'd not posted in far too long :)

  8. Ooooh, he's lovely, Karen! I think you successfully added that extra cuteness by putting him in a tie dyed tee...simply adorable. (^_^)

  9. I think it's really hard to draw a character over and over -- and have it maintain its "character." You definitely have! The expressions on this little guy are great. Wonderful sketches...I am looking forward to seeing more!!

  14. Heh :) well if you do one character a week soon you will have a whole stack to pick from - and we can vote who will be the bad guy :)

Had great smoked turkey legs again last night - burnt the vegies but they are only for decoration after all

  15. Arggggh, 12 hours of school work a day is not conducive to creativity! I need a break so I can draw with out passing out while I try to ;)
Have you posted pictures of your turkey legs? I'm about to start a week long juice fast, I'd love something to drool over and wish for ;) Maybe I can paint another character this weekend, I hope, I hope...

  16. What a cutie patootie!! I love this fabulous little character. I hope we get to see more. I am on the mend sistergirl. I am taking sometime to rest and restore. I think I have been just going and going and going without a break or a vacation. I wouldn't know a vacation if you waved it in my face it's been that long. Anyway, thanks sooooooo much for you words of encouragement and care. They mean the world to me. Best to you Sweetie for a wonderful weekend and week a head.

  18. Hey Karen! I love your little guy! I think I see Myles in him? The sketch of him with the teddy bear is so adorable! Congrats on the project! I can’t wait to see the finished project. I know it is hard to find the time , but I try to do one thing a day toward my goal... even if it takes only ten minutes. If I do that for a week instead of nothing, I am over an hour closer to that goal. Hey thanks for the well wishes. I am feeling much better today, but am taking off another week of work to fully recover.

  19. thanks Jack, it is supposed to resemble Myles. Glad you are feeling better. It's smart to take time off and not push yourself when you have been ill.

  20. Hello Karen, thanks for visiting!
I love to see sketches, I think I like more than to see the finished work! is as if I were in the kitchen by the cheff and not on the bench waiting for the dish, I mean?
I think I learn more from watching the sketch to the finished work, (I feel closer to the artist)
For this, I say thank you very much for showing and sharing.
Well, you're a very good artist, eh, the two drawings are up on the right are very good.
    I congratulate you.
    kiss

  29. The consistency in your character studies is great, Karen. (I always find this to be such a challenge). Your little boy looks like he's full of the dickens. Good thing he's so cute – it'll get him out of a jam or two. Best wishes for your new venture!
