Completed Illustration

So I finished this, for now anyway. I may go back to it later, I do that sometimes. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Let me know what you think because I have been looking at it for too long. I also got another new contact prescription. Thanks to Susan Mordigal's suggestion, I got one for mono-vision (one distance and one up close) but, I still haven't quite adjusted to them yet. I still feel a little "off". It's amazing how my vision being off affects everything, even the way I think. Makes me feel so sad for my grandson. I'll be glad when I can see again. It makes me so grateful for my sight. Thanks for taking the time to visit and to comment!

  1. I'm standing up and applauding right now...this is SUPERB!! Great job, Karen..really, you worked hard and it shows in this really great piece. I think what you've done to the lighting of the boy on the left is perfect..he recedes...the boy on the right is the focus. And I think the boy on the left's fireflies glowing are really, really well done. Same with the light on the firefly just on the tip of the right boy's forehead...well done!! you should be very proud. And I do hope that those new contacts settle in quickly. Always good to see your work and visits!

  2. Karen this is truly stunning! Everything came together so well, I love the way you changed the values and the fireflies, the boys look so sweet and intent and I also especially love the hair on the boy to the right, it's so soft. You've captured the mood perfectly, I feel like it's a gentle summer night and can hear the peepers right now! Wow, like Shirley said you worked very hard and should be proud, another portfolio piece for you! You got that prescription really fast, I'm so glad that they worked out for you! If by chance you don't feel like you've adjusted within a couple weeks it's possible they may have to adjust them for you, I had to do that, a slight measurement was off and I have astigmatisms in both eyes, so if it can work for me,it should for you. Again, Bravo!

  3. Thank you both so much, you are the best, and I really appreciate your support. Susan, my eye doctor is really great. He has been so patient with me and I am going again on Thursday to make sure that this new prescription is working out. I also have astigmatism in both eyes. Thank you again for the sweet comments.

I thought the same subject for the topic, and it is very interesting for me to study the differences in style and technique.
