No time to finish this weeks post either, and it's very last minute, again.  Actually, I just realized it's already Friday.  Oh well, better late than never.

  3. What a beautiful bedframe! Somehow it won't "click for big" but I can tell anyway that this is going to be magnificent!!

  4. Thank you Michele, Leen and Krista, I don't know why it keeps doing the business about not letting you click big. I just have to delete it and re-post it. I've been having trouble with that and the thumbnails for IF since I installed the newest Adobe Creative Suite. My thumbnail ended up being crazy blurry because it kept saying it was too big to post.

  6. Oh, Karen! I am already in love with this. I can smell a new favorite brewing. I LOVE this fairy tale. And what a fantastic, fantastic bed. The trees are so cool! Her very relaxed posture and expression are spot on. Such a nice touch to have her dangling her crown over the edge. And the dog! Wow, what a great pose on that one! Love it!

  7. I want that bed for sure!!!! Oh my goodness. Like Bella, it's not even finished yet and I know it's going to be awesome. I love this. You have out done yourself even with the sketches. Great illustration. Love it. Thanks so much for stopping by and I am glad that you found sometime for yourself to do this project. Keep going girly. Can't wait to see the rest of it.

  12. argggh, slacking off eh? I've been working on catching up on school work with Cyan all day... we missed two days last week for the Bodies Exhibit and an exhibit on Mythological Creatures and we are ever so far behind now... We were working until 1:00 am and now all day today too... so tired... ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ, and I still have so much more to do... I want to paint... :(

  13. Ooooh This is most excellent! Where can I get a bed like that? Your know Edmund Dulac illustrated something with a bed so high, I always thought that must be so much fun to have one of those!

  16. boy this is a perfect concept for layers, didn't even occur to me! I like how it's building. Near symmetry is a good approach too.

  17. Wow! It's coming along brilliantly, Karen! I think your curtains are beautifully illustrated, but I'm leaning towards keeping the image unobstructed even with the fine curtains..I don't know why (it may be personal preference). Can't wait to see the finished piece and how you're going to handle the background, Karen! : )

  18. This is lovely, very dream-like :) I love the delicate shape of the trees and the different mattress textures

  19. thanks everyone, I'm definitely going to lighten the curtains at eh very least and maybe just get rid of them altogether...

  20. well the curtains are exquisite actually, but you are right they are taking away from the thrust of the image. Pity, you have done a magisterial job on them (whatever magesterial means :) )

    hope everything is going okay.

  21. thanks Andrew, things are about the same

  25. good idea, I think I'll finish this and use it for warning! You're so smart Ces, you and Jack save me when my brain doesn't work.

  26. THIS illustration is sooooooo Fabulous K! Oh my gosh how excellent! I even love the curtain, but I rather see her there trying to prove that she is a real princess! She must be seen. When the folks start calling for orders on the bed then you can show the option with the curtain! I want that bed!!!! So very well done and designed my friend. Your sweet words just made my morning. Thanks so much for stopping by. I'm glad you had a chance to smile!

  29. AAAAAHHHH! I LOVE the curtains! LOVE them, I tell you! Every little princess wants the curtains over her bed. Even big princesses. :) And the patterns on the mattresses are divine! My goodness, they look very soft and floofy, too.

16 ninja brothers! Whoa! It must have gotten quite crowded in his room! Your story made me laugh.

  35. You all are so sweet, I've got to get this thing finished. I've been preoccupied with with computer issues and illness in the family. I need Java for school and can't get it to work anymore so I've been spending all my free time trying to find the issue so I can fix it.

  37. I can't even imagine how you do this! All of a sudden I got intimidated by Painter and just STOPPED! I got bogged down in the idea of creating my own brushes and was in over my head. I want to go back, but for now I'm back to the old trusty Winsor and Newton Series 7!

  38. How about a little blue bird in the nest?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hi Krista, I really don't use many special brushes, I just have a few favorites that are standard, though I play with the settings sometimes, When I first started using it I messed around more with the brushes than I do now.
I was thinking of adding a few little birds, and maybe trying to do something a little different with background. I just haven't decided yet and I haven't had time to go back to this one in days, maybe today's the day to get it finished :)
