IF_Muddy

So I finished my illustration for Illustration Fridays prompt "Muddy". My husband really didn't like it and though I can't say it's my favorite, I'm not unhappy with it. It was fun and challenging and I used brushes in painter x that I usually don't use. It was almost as much fun as playing in the mud and without the mess. Thanks for stopping by, please leave comments because I love to read them, they make my day! I have had a couple of people email me to say they can't post a comment. I have attempted to fix the issue so please send me an email if you are unable to post a comment so that I will know if the issue has been resolved. Thank you!

  1. Great job, the children and bowls etc are very good. This work has a strong diagonal that maybe needs to be balanced by an opposite diagonal? Hard to say. There are some beautiful elements and I think you got the concept across - also wonderful foreshortening perspective on the children, for the mud how about a tiling real mud texture in another layer blended into your paint work PS glad you are feeling better

  2. Nice perspective and cocepg. LOVE the detail in the mud, adds interest and makes me want to jump in and feel it for myself.

  4. Andrew you are right about the diagonal, I actually had textured it in a perpendicular pattern to the line of the girls but my family said it looked too much like sand instead of mud and I wanted to get it posted but, I will probably keep playing with it till it feels right. Sometimes I just have to look at it for a few days before I can get it the way I want it in the end. I'll try your ps suggestion, thank you.

  8. Wow, Karen. I am late..this is marvelous. I knew you had something great in store with the initial drawing and I am now marveling at how you did the foreshortening..that's tricky and tough. And it works here. I applaud you. I also do try to work on interesting perspectives..it's fun when it works. : ) I am happy that you must now be feeling better (right?!)..that horrible thing you had that stopped ya from reading sounded bad. On to check out your newer posts now. : )
